About Free Discretes
Free Discretes is a free MCAT question bank focused on discrete questions: short, standalone items that test one concept cleanly. Most free resources explain only the correct answer. Here, every answer choice gets its own explanation, because learning why a distractor is wrong is how you stop picking it on test day.
Who writes the questions
Who made this
This site was created by a third-year medical student who remembers the stress, and the price, of MCAT prep. They paid for their own prep and couldn't believe how much it cost just to do practice questions, so they wanted to use a little of their education to build a free resource for students in the same position.
The site will be updated, and more questions added, as the team has time. It will always be free to use. A paid option may be added later for advanced analytics or an ad-free experience.
Happy studying!
How questions are made
- Blueprint. Each question maps to a content category or reasoning skill in the public AAMC MCAT content outline.
- Drafting. Questions are drafted with the help of AI writing tools, then rewritten and edited by hand.
- Review. Before publication, every question, answer, and explanation is reviewed by a medical student, and each page shows the date it was last reviewed.
- Corrections. Reported errors are reviewed promptly, and corrected questions get a new review date.
